chase.

My friend. Chase. He lived down the street from me my whole life. Went to school together. went to church together. Once we got to high school we didn't talk much but always were happy to see each other when we did.
Years go by, graduation goes by—and now it's been years. A month came around and I kept hearing in the depths of my innermost... "Go talk to Chase." I remember thinking how random that was. We were so different and so much time has passed between us. I didn't even know what that would look like or how to get ahold of him. I looked to see if I had his number, looked for his Instagram, checked Snapchat. I couldn't find him... But I knew he lived down the street. I felt the Lord beckon me every single day when I drove by... Go. Knock on the door. Reach out.
I didn't.
He passed away from suicide shortly after.
I don't know what would have changed if I visited him.
I don't know the conclusion to this. I guess I write this for the sake of writing. For someone to tell the whole story.
When God beckons you to talk to someone. Don't hesitate. Even if He whispers a name to you, respond urgently. Run Fast to love. Run towards inconvenience and discomfort—when the Lord of Heaven and Earth tells you to talk to someone, to knock on their door and have immediate conversation, move. Ask God to grant you obedience to do it.
Father, forgive me for what I didn't do and the choice I made.
